Another common question I get about Klok is how can I back up my data "just in case". The data for Klok is stored in a file called klok.dat. It can be found at
Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1\Local Store
Windows Vista: C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Roaming\Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1\Local Store
Close Klok and copy that file somewhere safe. In the event of a problem, just copy that file back and start Klok and you will get your data back. As you might have guessed, you could use this method to transfer your data between computers if you wanted to, essentially allowing you to "sync" multiple instances of Klok.

Thanks for this - I've been wanting to transfer my data to my laptop!
Do you know where the dat file is stored on a linux-based system? I'm running Klok in Ubuntu 8.04 on the beta AIR runtime for Linux, but I could not find the .dat file anywhere. I would like to be able to put the .dat file on a USB stick for transfer between my Linux and Windows machines.
In Linux, see ~/.adobe/AIR/appdata/Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1/Local\ Store/klok.dat
Did a search on the Mac trying to find anything with klok and it's only finding the application. Where is the data file on the mac?
I don't have a mac but I think it would be something like this:
/Users/[User Name]/Library/Preferences/Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1/Local Store/klok.dat
It would be great if this location was settable, for things like DropBox where the folder is set...
Under Linux the directory name would be ~/.adobe/AIR/appdata/Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1/Local\ Store/
That location Rob lists for the klok.dat file on the Mac is correct.
Hi, I did just that, copied the klok.dat file, then installed the new version, then copy back (and replace) the new .dat file but it didn´t work. I lost EVERYTHING I had tracked.
What can I do?
It gets me this message when I open the program:
C:\Documents and Settings\A3\Datos de programa\Klok.AF6B2973D903BFAE0589C27890FE0146C233490A.1\Local Store\klok.dat\klok.dat cannot be accessed. If this refers to a removable drive, it may be disconnected. You may select a different path from the Preferences screen.
Nevermind, I just corrected the problem. Great software!
Rob - still got your original version i think but even though i've worked on a project this week, when i go to reports "this week" nothing comes up but a black screen. Last week is there and the data is in the project view but not reports. Help?
